Powered to Move will hold its third annual All Abilities Superhero 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway.
The event runs from 7 to 10 a.m. Participants can walk, run, roll in a wheelchair or ride a handcycle, with each group starting in its own heat, according to the organization. It says guest superheroes will be along the route and a vendor area with food and activities will be set up at the finish.
Sharyn King, a co-founder of Powered to Move, spoke about the race in the organization's statement. "This is about so much more than crossing a finish line," she said. "It's about celebrating what each person can do, building community and making sure everyone has a place to participate."
Times and registration
The race's registration page lists the 1-mile fun run at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K at 8:45 a.m. Entry is $25 for the fun run, free for children 4 and younger, and $45 for the 5K. Children under 5 must be registered with an adult. Registration closes at 9 a.m. on race day.
Entrants receive a long-sleeve shirt and a finisher medal. Packet pickup is Friday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tongue in Cheek Homemade Ice Cream, 3505 E. Park Blvd., Suite 300, with limited pickup on race day.
