Plano, Texas — The Cowboys have hired former quarterback Will Grier as an offensive assistant, shifting a familiar face from the playing side to the coaching staff before camp.
Dallas announced the move Friday and said Grier will begin next week. He recently retired after an offseason with the Panthers, according to the club and an ESPN report.
Grier entered the league as a third-round pick of Carolina in 2019. His NFL path also included two Cowboys stints, spent mostly in preseason and on practice squads.
The new assignment places him on Brian Schottenheimer’s staff and reunites him with Dak Prescott.
