Early voting for the Nov. 3 election starts Monday, Oct. 19, and Plano residents registered in Collin County will have eight places in the city to cast a ballot, according to the county's preliminary list of early voting sites.

The Plano locations are:

  • Carpenter Park Recreation Center, 6701 Coit Road (south lobby)
  • Collin College Plano Campus, 4000 Jupiter Road (library building atrium)
  • Davis Library, 7501 Independence Parkway (program rooms 1 and 2)
  • Haggard Library, 2501 Coit Road (program room)
  • Harrington Library, 1501 18th St. (program room)
  • Liberty Recreation Center, 2601 Glencliff Drive (meeting room A)
  • Parr Library, 6200 Windhaven Parkway (program room)
  • Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, 5801 W. Parker Road (meeting room A)

Collin County voters are not tied to the site nearest home. Anyone registered in the county may vote early at any of its sites, which also include locations in Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Murphy, Parker and Wylie and the county elections office at 2010 Redbud Blvd. in McKinney, the main early voting location.

Hours

The county's schedule is the same at every site:

  • Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 23: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 24: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 25: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Election Day polls, on Nov. 3, are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. The county's Election Day list adds more Plano locations, among them several schools, including Plano West Senior High, Shepton High and Clark High, and the City of Plano Technology Services building on East 15th Street.

Denton County side

Part of Plano lies in Denton County, and residents registered there vote at Denton County sites. Denton County's early voting list, which runs on the same days and hours, does not include a location with a Plano address. Its main early voting site is the county elections office at 701 Kimberly Drive in Denton.

On the ballot

Plano voters in both counties will decide Proposition A, which the city has said would let it use venue taxes as part of the financing for a proposed Dallas Stars arena in a redeveloped Shops at Willow Bend. A political action committee opposing the measure has held meetings urging a no vote, while the Stars have called the move a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," NBC 5 reported.

Collin County voters also face a four-proposition, $817.5 million county bond package covering courts and the jail, roads, parks and an elections and records building.

Applications for a mail ballot must reach the Collin County early voting clerk by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Both counties label their lists preliminary; Collin County says any changes will be posted at collincountytx.gov/elections.
