Ericsson, which has its U.S. headquarters in Plano, said Oct. 5 that work is underway on a Singapore project testing network security designed for future quantum-computing threats.

The company is working with Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority, Singtel and NCS. The government announced their agreement on May 21.

Ericsson said the work includes identifying encryption used across Singtel's systems, testing migration approaches and preparing operational teams. The partners also intend to share lessons with other telecommunications providers.

The partners are assessing how to change encryption while maintaining compatibility with existing networks, according to Ericsson.
