The North Texas Pride Foundation will hold its annual "Come As You Are" festival on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the ArtCentre of Plano, 902 E. 16th St.

The festival runs from noon to 5 p.m. Organizers bill it as a family event, with sponsor and vendor booths, food and drinks, giveaways, live music, dancing and activities planned for both adults and children.

Tickets

According to the event listing on Visit Plano, admission is $10 for anyone 13 or older, and children 12 and under get in free. A VIP ticket costs $25. Plano Magazine reported that the VIP option is limited to guests 21 and older.

It opens an indoor area with light refreshments and adult beverages from noon to 4 p.m., which the foundation pitches as a cool place to take a break. Tickets are sold through the foundation's website, and businesses can still buy vendor and sponsor booths there.

Where the money goes

The foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, says the festival supports its long-term plan to open a community center for LGBTQ residents and allies somewhere north of Interstate 635. On its website, the group describes a facility that would offer meeting space, education and recreation programs, a food pantry, and health and mental-health resources, along with other services.

Organizers say a portion of the proceeds will also go to a partnering nonprofit, which has not been named in the published listings.

The foundation's stated mission is to promote unity, equality and community integration for LGBTQ people and their allies through forums and events. Earlier this fall it held a smaller fundraiser, a bowling social at Plano Super Bowl on K Avenue.
