The Dallas Cowboys completed a dramatic comeback on Sunday, overcoming a significant second-half deficit to defeat the Houston Texans 34-30 at Reliant Stadium. The victory improved Dallas’s record to 2-2, while the Texans fell to 0-4 on the season.
Dallas trailed 16-6 entering the third quarter before staging a relentless offensive push. The turning point arrived in the second half when the Cowboys’ ground game and precision passing began to chip away at Houston’s lead. Javonte Williams emerged as the focal point of Dallas’s offense, contributing three touchdowns on the day.
Scoring Breakdown
Houston opened the scoring early with a 7-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud to Nico Collins. However, the Cowboys responded immediately with a 39-yard field goal by Brandon Aubrey. The Texans extended their lead before halftime through three consecutive Ka’imi Fairbairn field goals of 51, 39, and 54 yards, taking a 16-6 advantage into the locker room.
The third quarter saw Dallas mount its challenge. Williams rushed for an 8-yard touchdown to make it 13-16, followed by another Stroud-to-Collins connection, this time for 22 yards, pushing Houston’s lead back to 23-13. Dallas refused to fold, as Williams added a 1-yard rushing touchdown and another Aubrey kick brought the score to 20-23.
The fourth quarter proved decisive. Williams sealed his three-touchdown performance with a 2-yard rush, giving Dallas a 27-23 lead. Houston responded with a 6-yard rushing touchdown by Woody Marks to tie the game at 27-27. With time winding down, Dak Prescott connected with CeeDee Lamb on a 12-yard pass for the decisive touchdown, capping the rally.
