Toyota Motor North America, whose headquarters is in Plano, has a 15-year virtual power purchase agreement with the planned Goldfinch Solar Project in Van Zandt County, according to project investors.

Toho Gas announced its investment Oct. 16. It and Diamond Generating Corporation, part of Mitsubishi Corporation’s U.S. energy business, each hold a 50% interest through a joint venture. The partners plan to build and operate the project on about 800 acres, with 150.77 megawatts of alternating-current capacity and commercial operations targeted for March 2029.

Diamond Generating says Toyota is expected to receive renewable energy certificates and other environmental attributes from the project. Toho Gas describes the agreement as involving environmental benefits and financial settlements tied to electricity prices, without direct power delivery to Toyota.
