Toyota Motor North America and Constellation Energy have announced a 15-year renewable energy agreement. Under the terms, the automaker will receive renewable energy certificates (RECs) linked to the Milano Solar project, which is located in Milam County, Texas.
The solar facility is being developed by Ferrovial Energy with a total capacity of 203.97 MW. As part of the arrangement, Constellation signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Ferrovial for more than 115 MW of solar capacity. This volume is estimated to generate approximately 246,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually.
Commercial operations for the Milano Solar project are scheduled to begin in September 2027. Throughout the 15-year contract period, Constellation will retire the specific RECs on behalf of Toyota. This structure is part of Constellation’s Offsite Renewables program, which connects corporate electricity purchases with large-scale generation projects to support the development of new renewable capacity.
For Toyota, this agreement aligns with its Eighth Environmental Action Plan for North America. The plan aims to match 100% of the company’s electricity consumption with renewable sources. This goal is pursued through a combination of virtual power purchase agreements, RECs, and on-site solar generation at its own facilities.
The Milano Solar project contributes to the broader expansion of solar infrastructure in Texas intended to meet the demand of large consumers. The agreement establishes a long-term supply horizon for the participants, with generation expected to commence in 2027.
