Plano Native Collodi Faces New Competition After FC Dallas Trade

FC Dallas acquired goalkeeper Daniel from San Jose in a trade worth up to $1 million in allocation money.

Plano, Texas — FC Dallas has acquired goalkeeper Daniel from the San Jose Earthquakes, adding a veteran to a position group that includes Plano native Michael Collodi.

San Jose receives a package worth as much as $1 million in General Allocation Money. MLS and Field Level Media reported that $700,000 is guaranteed, with a further $300,000 dependent on conditions.

Daniel, 32, became San Jose’s starter in 2023 and logged 15 clean sheets over 86 appearances in all competitions, according to MLS. He has a U.S. green card, which means the move does not consume an international roster spot for Dallas.

FC Dallas chief soccer officer André Zanotta said the goalkeeper has MLS experience and will add competition to the group. Collodi had started 13 matches for Dallas this season, recording three shutouts.

FC Dallas plays home matches at Toyota Stadium in nearby Frisco. San Jose signed goalkeeper Angus Gunn before the clubs completed Daniel’s move to North Texas.
