Astros Break Open Sixth Inning
The Houston Astros delivered a decisive offensive explosion in the sixth inning to secure a 9-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field on Friday. After trailing for the majority of the contest, Houston erased the deficit and pulled away with a six-run frame that featured a three-run double by Jake Burger Walker and a two-run home run by Kyle Smith.
The game began with the White Sox controlling the pace. B. Montgomery followed with a single to right field, driving in Murakami, and later scored on a wild pitch by Kai-Wei Teng. Meidroth also crossed the plate after being hit by a pitch, giving Chicago a 3-0 advantage.
The White Sox extended their lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning when Benintendi scored on a wild pitch by Teng. A second wild pitch by Teng allowed Benintendi to score again, though the score remained 4-0 due to the way the innings were recorded in the play-by-play, before Meidroth doubled to center to bring home B. Montgomery, making it 5-0.
However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the bottom of the sixth.

Houston began chipping away at the lead when Wade Jr. singled to right, scoring Alvarez. The turning point arrived when Walker doubled to left field, driving in three runs to tie the game at 5-5. Immediately following, Smith launched a home run to left field, measuring 383 feet, which put Houston ahead 7-5.
Altuve contributed with an infield single that scored Peña, and Wade Jr. walked to bring in another run, extending the lead to 8-5.
