The Angels struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Neto crossed home plate after a sacrifice fly by Schanuel sent Trout to third.
Grissom followed with a single to right field, scoring Trout and putting Soler in scoring position.

Adell added to the momentum with a double to right field, driving in Lowe to make it 4-0. The Angels' pitching staff held firm during this stretch, limiting Houston's offense.

Houston began its comeback attempt in the fourth inning when Trammell hit a 412-foot home run to center field, putting the first run on the board. The Astros continued to chip away at the lead in the eighth inning. Alvarez singled to left field, allowing Peña to score and make it 4-2.
