Children’s Medical Center Plano is expanding its oncology and hematology services following a $2 million capital gift from Hogs for the Cause. The funds are designated for the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, which treats more than 2,000 new patients annually across the Plano and Dallas campuses.
In recognition of the contribution, the facility’s outpatient unit will be renamed the Hogs for the Cause Outpatient Unit. This donation marks the third-largest capital gift in the history of the Plano campus. The money will increase both inpatient and outpatient capacity to support clinical capabilities for children with cancer and blood disorders.
The expansion addresses growing demand in Collin and Denton counties. Children’s Health opened its Plano location in 2008 to serve families in these rapidly growing areas. In December 2024, the hospital completed a 395,000-square-foot patient tower that tripled bed capacity from 72 to 212 beds.
Brent Christopher, president of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation, stated that the financial commitment helps surround families with care and community during difficult times. He noted that as North Texas continues to grow, the need for specialized pediatric care near patients’ homes also increases.
