Lewisville football secured a decisive 40-7 victory over Marcus in their District 5-6A opener, marking the largest margin of victory in the rivalry since 2001. The Farmers achieved this result despite the ineligibility of starting quarterback Laykon Brassfield, who was ruled out before the game.
Senior defensive back Aiden Evans stepped in at the quarterback position, utilizing his speed to rush for 167 yards and three touchdowns on six carries. Evans also contributed 51 passing yards and an additional score. The team built a 14-7 lead in the first quarter and added 26 points in the second half to close the game.
Lewisville improved to a 4-0 overall record and 1-0 in district play, while Marcus fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the 5-6A standings.
In a separate crosstown matchup, Plano East defeated Plano West 24-6 to snap a two-game losing streak. The Panthers scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Wolves. With 10:14 remaining in the final period, senior Josh Gordon connected with Cody Warner for a 19-yard touchdown, giving East a 14-6 lead.
The team extended its advantage through special teams plays, including a 24-yard field goal by Logan Watkins and a blocked 40-yard kick returned for a touchdown by Jordan Stafford. Sophomore Treyce Seldon rushed for 115 yards and a score, while the defense prevented Plano West from reaching the end zone. West’s only points came from two field goals by Andres Herrera.
The result tied Plano East at 1-1 in district play, matching Plano West for fourth place in the 7-6A standings.
