The City of Plano has been named one of the top employers in Texas on Forbes' 2026 list of America's Best Employers By State, ranking third among city-government employers and 72nd among all Texas employers on the list.

The ranking comes from a survey Forbes conducted with Statista of more than 245,000 employees nationwide, evaluating employers across six areas including workplace atmosphere, salary and workplace safety. In all, 1,365 employers made the list.

The recognition covers the city government itself as a workplace, from police and fire to parks and permitting, rather than the city's private employers.

Plano's broader employment market supplies the backdrop: the city is home to Toyota's North American headquarters, and Samsung has announced plans to move its U.S. headquarters to the city. Plano has previously ranked as high as seventh nationally among best cities for jobs.
