Erling Haaland’s recent shopping trip to a Dallas retailer has triggered a significant increase in sales and online attention for the business. The Norwegian soccer star visited Wild Bill’s Western Store in the West End area of downtown Dallas following Norway’s World Cup victory at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday.
Haaland and several teammates entered the shop, where owners Cody and Julie Newport had prepared for the visit by roping off a section of the floor. According to the owners, Haaland had no prior knowledge of cowboy hats and was fitted by staff while seated in a chair. He purchased multiple hats, exotic boots, and a longhorn belt buckle. He also bought a t-shirt with the phrase "Y’all can kiss my Dallas" and had his initials and jersey number branded onto his items.
The store’s owners noted that Haaland expressed that this was his only opportunity to visit the shop while in Dallas. Cody Newport described the interaction as a demonstration of southern hospitality, stating that the player had an enjoyable time. Julie Newport added that the team appreciated the welcome they received.
Haaland shared photographs of the visit on social media, which have garnered millions of views and likes. The exposure has resulted in a rapid depletion of stock at the physical location. The "Y’all can kiss my Dallas" shirt is nearly sold out, with many fans purchasing gear both in-store and online.
Wild Bill’s Western Store is currently awaiting a new shipment of the viral t-shirt, which is expected to arrive on Thursday to restock the racks. The owners observed a shift in their customer base following the social media posts. While they typically serve a clientele that is 90 percent tourists, they are now seeing an increase in shoppers from North Texas. Dallas is about 18 miles south of Plano.
