Harvy Barsoom has pleaded guilty in a case involving Breanna Morello, who had accused the Plano Police Department of mishandling her report after a July 9, 2025, encounter at her apartment complex.
Morello said the incident involved a man who went after her onto a private stairway at the complex. She has said he stayed despite repeated demands that he leave and backed away only after she displayed a firearm. The department first treated the matter as flirting, and Morello has said the investigation became more serious only after surveillance video spread widely online.
After the plea, Morello criticized the police department and praised the Collin County District Attorney's Office. "I am thankful for the Collin County District Attorney's Office for taking this case on. Unfortunately, the Plano Police Department did not take it seriously," Morello told The Dallas Express.
Morello also said she believed Barsoom entered the plea to avoid additional public testimony and courtroom review of footage. She said he had been barred from Stonebriar Mall, describing that as another sign of the conduct she reported.
The case has continued to draw attention online. A video Morello posted about the incident has received more than one million views, and she wrote on X that she was releasing body camera footage, audio recordings, internal emails and other material related to the police department's response.
