The Fourth of July weekend in North Texas is predicted to be hot and muggy, with temperatures climbing to around 97 degrees, slightly exceeding seasonal averages but remaining below the record highs of 1980. On Thursday, temperatures will rise quickly through the 80s in the morning, reaching the low 90s by noon and peaking in the mid-to-upper 90s later in the day.

A weak atmospheric disturbance may bring a slight chance of rain, with a 10% probability in the immediate Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and 20% in areas to the east. Any afternoon thunderstorms that develop could lead to localized heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds, although severe weather is not expected. Winds will be from the south at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 20 mph.

Friday's forecast mirrors that of Thursday, with morning lows in the mid-to-upper 70s and afternoon highs again in the mid-to-upper 90s under partly sunny skies. Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated to form late in the day, particularly between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., but these should dissipate by 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., allowing for favorable conditions for evening fireworks displays.

Looking ahead to Saturday and Sunday, the likelihood of a significant weather disruption is low, although brief interruptions may occur. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop during the late afternoon and early evening, typical of summer weather patterns, before fading after sunset. Travelers, lake-goers, and attendees of outdoor events are encouraged to stay alert for any lightning or thunder.

The long-term forecast indicates little change as North Texas continues into next week, with persistent high-pressure systems maintaining a hot and relatively calm weather pattern. Daily highs are expected to consistently remain in the mid-to-upper 90s, while morning lows will be sticky, hovering in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Rain chances will diminish further, with isolated storm threats primarily affecting eastern North Texas early next week.
