North Texas Performing Arts (NTPA) has announced plans to relocate its headquarters from The Shops at Willow Bend to a new performing arts complex located at 2819 W. 15th St. in central Plano. The organization confirmed the move after receiving notice earlier this year that it must vacate its longtime space at the shopping center.
The new site, situated near Independence Parkway and the President George Bush Turnpike, will house the NTPA Center of the Arts. The facility is designed to include four performance stages, six dance and rehearsal studios, private practice rooms, a set-building shop, and dedicated areas for classes and community programs. A separate nearby building will accommodate the North Texas Performing Arts Academy.
Construction on the new campus is scheduled to begin in August, with the theater buildout expected to be completed by December 1. NTPA plans to host its first performances at the new venue in early January. The organization estimates the campus will welcome more than 400,000 visitors annually, placing guests within walking distance of local restaurants and retail.
To support the transition, NTPA has launched a capital campaign titled "Save Our Stages" with a fundraising goal of $2.5 million. The funds will cover construction costs, equipment, and the operational transition. The organization is also seeking volunteers with professional expertise to assist with planning and the buildout process.
The relocation follows redevelopment plans for The Shops at Willow Bend. In June, the Plano City Council approved a non-binding letter of intent supporting a new Dallas Stars facility at the property, part of a larger vision to transform the mall into a mixed-use district known as The Bend. NTPA is among several tenants leaving the property, joining businesses such as The Movie Institute.
Other anchors have already exited, including Macy's, Dillard's, and the Crayola Experience, while Neiman Marcus is expected to close in 2027.
