The city of Plano is adjusting its public service schedule for the upcoming Independence Day holiday. According to the city’s website, several municipal facilities will remain closed on July 4, while others will operate with shortened hours.

The following locations will be completely shut down for the day: the Plano Animal Shelter, the Day Labor Center, the Plano Municipal Center, the Sam Johnson Recreation Center, and the Texas Pure Products Regional Composting Site and Custer Road Facility. All five public libraries in the city—Davis, Haggard, Harrington, Parr, and Schimelpfenig—will also be closed.

Recreation centers and aquatic facilities will remain open but with limited availability. Carpenter Park, Oak Point, and Liberty Recreation Centers will operate from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The High Point Tennis Center will have extended morning hours, opening at 7:30 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m. Both the Jack Carter Pool and the Plano Aquatic Center will follow the same 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. schedule.

City officials confirmed that regular trash and recycling collection services will continue as scheduled and will not be disrupted by the holiday closures. Residents are advised to check the city website for any further updates regarding service adjustments during the holiday period.
