A former Plano Independent School District educator is facing three new criminal charges after an initial arrest earlier this month. Paul Campbell, 64, was taken into custody on July 8 and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child.

Investigators have since secured three additional warrants for indecency with a child. The new charges stem from allegations involving a second-grade student at Brinker Elementary School during the previous academic year.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, an eight-year-old girl informed her parents over the Fourth of July holiday that Campbell had inappropriately touched her. The student stated the incident occurred when she approached his desk to ask a question. She described him running his hand through her clothing while responding.

The affidavit notes that the student reported this behavior happened repeatedly throughout the school year. She also alleged that other female classmates, including a friend, experienced similar contact. The report specifies that no male students were observed being subjected to these actions.

Plano ISD has moved to terminate Campbell’s employment. In a public statement, the district described the alleged conduct as reprehensible and stated it was entirely inconsistent with the organization's values and expectations for staff members.

The Plano Police Department issued a message acknowledging the students who reported the abuse and their families. The department highlighted the courage shown by the children and recognized that disclosure often takes time, noting that each family participates at their own pace.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case or who believes their child may have been affected to contact the Plano PD Special Victims Unit tipline at 972-941-2044.
