One of the main strategies Klanderman will implement is a 3-3-5 formation, which emphasizes versatility and aims to confuse opposing quarterbacks. This setup allows three defensive linemen to occupy blockers, freeing up linebackers to pursue the ball carrier more effectively.
Klanderman is expected to improve the team's red-zone and third-down performance, building on Kansas State's success in these areas. His experience suggests that Baylor will see a notable increase in its ability to stop opponents in critical situations, creating more offensive opportunities for the Bears.
The new defensive scheme will also focus on positional flexibility, utilizing hybrid safeties and linebackers to adapt to the diverse offenses in the Big 12.
