Tayven Jackson Takes Over as North Texas Quarterback Ahead of Indiana Matchup

Tayven Jackson has been designated as the starting quarterback for the North Texas Mean Green as they gear up to play Indiana University in their season opener on September 5, 2026. Jackson, who has a diverse background in college football, previously played for the Hoosiers.

In the 2023-24 season, he participated in 13 games for Indiana, achieving a 61.2% completion percentage, tossing six touchdowns while also throwing six interceptions. After transferring to the University of Central Florida in 2025, he completed 63.5% of his passes for 2,151 yards, which included ten touchdowns and eight interceptions, helping the Knights to a 5-7 season.

Before his collegiate career, Jackson excelled at Center Grove High School, where he amassed 4,813 passing yards and threw for 47 touchdowns between 2018 and 2021, guiding his team to an undefeated championship in Class 6A. Tayven is also the brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a notable Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2019 and currently a player for the Toronto Raptors.

The game between North Texas and Indiana is set to kick off at noon and will be aired on Fox.
