This action came after the newspaper reported on a locker room incident involving Jacob Fields and Dozie Noble Ezukanma, who suffered a brain bleed, leading to Fields being charged with aggravated assault.
Despite the revocation, the Star-Telegram continued to cover the incident. TCU Athletics released a statement emphasizing its commitment to progress and recognizing the newspaper's importance as an independent news source in the community. The Horned Frogs began their season with a loss against North Carolina, ending 15-10 in Ireland, and are set to play Grambling State on September 12.
The initial decision to revoke credentials was reportedly tied to threats made against Ezukanma, though the Star-Telegram clarified that it did not disclose his identity after the incident. With the reinstatement, the Star-Telegram will regain full access to media areas during TCU games.
