Jacob Fields, a former safety for TCU, has been charged with aggravated assault by the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. This charge follows an incident that occurred in a locker room on August 13, where Fields is accused of causing serious bodily injury to TCU wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma. The charge was officially filed on September 23.
The complaint alleges that Fields struck Ezukanma in the head and may have kicked him while he was down. Ezukanma reportedly sustained a concussion and was hospitalized for three days due to a brain bleed linked to the incident. Witnesses stated that Fields attacked Ezukanma from behind, leading to the latter losing consciousness.
Following the incident, Fields surrendered to law enforcement on August 30. He was dismissed from the TCU football team on August 18. Reports indicate that Fields later sent a message to Ezukanma to express his remorse for his actions.
The altercation is said to have arisen from Fields' frustration with his practice performance. Fields' agent, Philip Miller, released a statement in support of him, highlighting the significance of standing up for oneself.
