TCU’s 21-13 defeat at Central Florida has put its quarterback situation under scrutiny before the Oct. 3 home game against No. 9 BYU. The Horned Frogs are 2-2 overall and 0-2 against Power Four opponents after the Big 12 opener for both teams.
TCU had hoped to begin 4-0 and bring ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Fort Worth, but the team has scored 11.5 points per game through its first month.
The loss in Orlando included 11 TCU penalties totaling 86 yards. UCF also held a two-turnover advantage, while TCU produced 1.2 yards per rushing attempt. Jaden Craig, a Harvard transfer, remains above sophomore Adam Schobel on the depth chart. Schobel appeared in no games as a 2025 freshman and has one pass attempt this season.
In games against North Carolina and UCF, Craig’s passing line was 45 completions on 72 attempts, 485 yards, two interceptions and zero touchdowns. He also had 10 rushing attempts totaling minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college rushing figures. The source noted that receivers have provided limited help, while Craig has had difficulty creating plays when the pocket breaks down.
A report says Craig signed with TCU for more money than Schobel, making a change a financial and personnel matter. TCU may stay with Craig against BYU, or Schobel could make his first start at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week.
