Bryson Washington contributed significantly on the ground with 788 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns.

Auburn also finished the last season with a 5-7 record, concluding with a 27-20 defeat to Alabama. Their quarterback, Jackson Arnold, threw for 1,309 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, achieving a completion percentage of 63.3%. Jeremiah Cobb was a standout in the rushing department with 969 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Following this matchup, Baylor will host Prairie View A&M on September 12, while Auburn will face Southern Miss on the same day. The outcomes of these games may set the tone for the rest of the season for both teams.
