The Green Bay Packers are signing guard Laken Tomlinson from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad, according to NFL Network reporters Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. The move leaves Dallas with two offensive linemen on its practice squad.
Tomlinson joined the Cowboys earlier this month after All-Pro guard Tyler Smith went on injured reserve following thumb surgery. Tomlinson did not play during Dallas’ first two games. Smith can become eligible to return after Week 4.
Tomlinson, 34, entered the NFL as a first-round selection by the Detroit Lions in 2015. He has played 173 games over 11 seasons, including 162 starts, and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021 while with the San Francisco 49ers. His other recent teams include the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans, where he played 10 games in 2025.
Dallas’ remaining practice-squad linemen are Marcellus Johnson and Wanya Morris. Johnson is listed as a tackle and has not appeared in an NFL game, while Morris has played only tackle during his three-year career. The source did not specify whether Dallas will add another guard.
Green Bay has been dealing with injuries on its offensive line. Aaron Banks and Zach Bako-Bewele missed Week 3, and Bako-Bewele is out for the season with a torn patellar tendon. Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been sacked eight times, while the team has allowed 57 pressures through three games, according to Pro Football Focus.
