The Dallas Cowboys have ruled out four defensive players for their Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil. Cornerback Cobie Durant, safeties Malik Hooker and P.J. Locke, and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown are all unavailable for the matchup.
Each player missed Dallas’ practices on Wednesday and Thursday. The group also will not make the trip to Rio de Janeiro, where the Cowboys are scheduled to play Baltimore on Sunday.
Durant started the Cowboys’ first two games after joining the team this offseason following four seasons with the Rams. He played 87 defensive snaps before a hamstring injury in last Sunday’s victory over Washington. He had previously been expected to miss multiple weeks.
Hooker sustained a fractured forearm during the season opener against the Giants. He started that game but left after 12 defensive snaps. Locke was injured against Washington, suffering a torn plantar fascia in his foot. He filled in for Hooker and logged 31 defensive snaps in Week 2.
Overshown will miss his second straight game because of a hamstring strain suffered against the Giants. He started the opener and made seven tackles before leaving. Jaishawn Barham is expected to continue in a larger role at linebacker, while second-year cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. is expected to receive additional work with Durant out.
