Dallas Cowboys safety P.J. Locke left the game with a foot injury during the opening drive against the Washington Commanders. The injury occurred in his second game with Dallas.
Video shown during the FOX broadcast indicated that Locke moved toward a tackle and began limping before contacting another player. Training staff members then helped him leave the field, and he later went to the locker room without assistance, according to reports cited by Sports Illustrated.
The Cowboys had already ruled out safety Malik Hooker for the game because of a forearm injury. Locke’s departure added another defensive injury as Dallas played its Week 2 home opener against Washington.
Locke joined the Cowboys this offseason on a one-year contract worth $4 million after spending his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. He recorded two tackles in Dallas’ season-opening loss to the New York Giants.
