The Houston Texans are considering changes along the offensive line before Sunday’s AFC South opener against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Houston began the season 0-2 after losing its home opener to the Cincinnati Bengals, 20-6.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud faced pressure on 45.5% of his dropbacks against Cincinnati when the Bengals used man coverage. The Texans also produced 18 rushing yards on 12 attempts, adding to questions about the offense entering Week 3.
Much of the attention has centered on right tackle Trent Brown, who struggled against Cincinnati’s pass rush during several late-game passing situations. Blake Fisher, a 2024 second-round selection from Notre Dame, could receive consideration for the starting job after showing mobility and strength as a blocker during training camp.
Another potential adjustment would involve Wyatt Teller moving into a full-time starting guard position beside rookie center Keylan Rutledge. Whether Fisher and Teller will start was not yet clear. The status of Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins also remained pending because of a hamstring issue.
Indianapolis will be without wide receiver Alec Pierce, who Colts coach Shane Steichen said was placed on injured reserve with a heel injury. The Colts signed veteran receiver Darius Slayton and added Eli Pancol to their practice squad this week. Indianapolis still has Josh Downs, Keenan Allen, rookie tight end Tyler Warren and running back Taylor as part of its offensive threats.
