Hero Kanu, a defensive lineman for Texas, has been selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Sept. 23.
The award honors a scholarship athlete who combines academic achievement, football performance and leadership. The announcement did not identify the number of semifinalists or say whether Kanu will advance to the finalist stage.
Texas has produced a Campbell Trophy finalist in each of the last two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore received finalist recognition in 2025, following center Jake Majors in 2024.
The Longhorns have also had two winners. Defensive end Sam Acho received the award in 2010, and center Dallas Griffin won it in 2007. Burnt Orange Nation reported the news.
