Jones said defensive tackles Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark have provided a strong foundation in the middle of the defense. He described Williams as one of the league’s top players and praised Clark’s consistency. Jones also said Williams is not dealing with an injury after appearing slow to rise following a couple of plays against Washington.
Dallas is scheduled to face Baltimore in Rio de Janeiro at Maracanã Stadium next Sunday. Concerns about the stadium’s playing surface have circulated on social media, and Flamengo, which uses the stadium for home matches, played there Sunday. Some Flamengo players had previously criticized the condition of the field.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said the Cowboys’ operations staff has communicated with the league about the surface. He said he has no concerns and expects the league to ensure the field meets its standards.
The Cowboys passed for 266 yards against Washington but gained only 66 yards on the ground. Javonte Williams finished with 30 rushing yards on 12 attempts. Schottenheimer said Dallas entered the game intending to spread out Washington’s defense and throw the ball, though he did not expect the rushing total to be as low as it was.
