The New England Patriots have made a significant roster move by trading wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans. In exchange, the Patriots received Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for the year 2028.
Boutte, who is 24 years old, found himself in a challenging position within the Patriots' receiving group after the team added AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs. Other players, including DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism, also contributed to the depth of the roster, making Boutte's role less secure.
According to Patriots coach Mike Vrabel, the trade was a logical decision that provided Boutte with a better opportunity in Houston. Vrabel noted that without injuries, Boutte might have remained inactive during games, particularly since he did not participate in special teams.
In the previous season, Boutte played in 14 games, recording 33 receptions for a total of 551 yards and achieving a career-high of six touchdowns. Despite the trade, Vrabel expressed his respect for Boutte, emphasizing the player's maturity and personal growth throughout his time with the team.
