TCU has announced the dismissal of safety Jacob Fields from the football team, occurring less than two weeks prior to their season opener against North Carolina. This decision follows a physical altercation that reportedly took place in the locker room on August 13, as detailed in the TCU crime and fire log.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the incident was characterized as an aggravated assault. Sources indicated that Fields was involved in a fight with an offensive player and had previously experienced targeted insults and threats from teammates, including being spat on.
Before the altercation, Fields had attempted to communicate with the coaching staff about the escalating tensions but did not receive any response. Fields joined TCU from Louisiana Tech this offseason and was anticipated to start at free safety for the Horned Frogs.
