A temporary restraining order granted by a Dallas court allows 18 college football players, including Ahmaad Moses from SMU, to compete for a fifth year of eligibility in the 2026 season.
This decision comes shortly before the college football season begins and follows the Wisne v. NCAA ruling on July 31, which had previously allowed athletes who graduated high school in 2022 to extend their eligibility. The NCAA's appeal of that ruling is now overridden by this new injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, a standout safety and First Team All-ACC selection in 2025, has played 54 games and started 19 during his time with the Mustangs. He played a key role in SMU's conference title in 2023 and their College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Last season, Moses led the team with 104 tackles and five interceptions, showcasing his defensive prowess.
His notable performance against Miami (FL) included a career-high 15 tackles and two interceptions. After declaring for the NFL Draft post-2025 season, Moses faced challenges due to a herniated disk discovered during an MRI, which required spinal fusion surgery. This injury has allowed him to qualify for a return under the new ACC eligibility rules.
Moses has been active in fall camp with SMU since the Wisne ruling and is expected to participate in the Mustangs’ season opener against Florida State on September 7, barring any NCAA appeal. He will join a safety group that includes Tyren Polley and Jimmy Wyrick, among others.
