The Houston Texans have made a trade to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte confirmed the deal on social media prior to any official announcement from the teams involved.
In exchange for Boutte, the Texans sent safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to the Patriots. This trade follows the injury to Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kayshon Boutte, a sixth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, had a productive rookie season with 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had a surplus of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million contract in March.
In addition to Boutte, the Texans have also signed veteran wide receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard as they work to fill the gap left by Higgins' injury. Higgins was anticipated to be a starter alongside star receiver Nico Collins, having recorded 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns during his rookie season last year.
