Tafuna, who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 305 pounds, originally joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2025. He spent his rookie season with the team but was waived on August 5, 2026. The New York Jets claimed him the following day, but he was released as part of their roster cutdown.
Now returning to Houston, Tafuna is expected to provide additional depth for a team that is aiming for a Super Bowl title. During his collegiate career at Utah, he recorded a total of 108 combined tackles, 7.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and had notable defensive plays including three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Despite some concerns about his production and traits for interior defensive positions, analysts have noted Tafuna's athleticism and ability to handle double-teams. His performance in practice will determine his future contributions to the Texans.
