Higgins, a second-year player who was selected as the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, had a promising rookie season. He recorded 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns, stepping up significantly after Tank Dell suffered a season-ending injury late in the 2024 season.
During the Texans' nine-game winning streak to close the 2025 regular season, Higgins saw his target share increase by 8.1 percentage points, catching 41 of 68 targets.
As the Texans prepared for the 2026 season, Higgins was expected to play a crucial role in the team's passing game, especially with Dell still recovering from his injury. Higgins had shown strong late-season performance, scoring four of his six touchdowns in the final weeks of the regular season and achieving his two highest yardage totals in Weeks 13 and 17.
