Pederson Powers Rangers Offense
Joc Pederson delivered a pivotal performance for the Texas Rangers, hitting two home runs to help secure a 7-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Monday at Globe Life Field. The win improved the Rangers' record to 54-52, while the Mariners fell to 52-55.
Pederson opened the scoring in the first inning with a 418-foot homer to center field. He added another long ball in the second inning, driving in two more runs with a 347-foot shot to right field that also scored Jose Lopez and Adolis Garcia. His efforts were part of a five-home run barrage by Texas.
Mariners Take Early Lead
Seattle answered Pederson's first homer with a solo home run of their own in the second inning. Marcell Ozuna connected for a 395-foot shot to center field, tying the game at 1-1 before Pederson's second blast gave the Rangers a 4-1 lead.
The Mariners' starting pitcher George Kirby struggled early, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits over four innings. He took the loss, dropping his record to 8-9. Jose Ferrer, Michael Rucker, Cole Wilcox, and Alex Hoppe pitched the remaining innings for Seattle, combining to allow no further runs but unable to overcome the deficit.
Rangers Extend Lead in Third
Texas extended its advantage in the third inning with a series of powerful hits. Corey Seager hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Nathaniel Lowe, making it 2-4. Evan Carter then homered to left-center field on a 436-foot drive, pushing the lead to 5-2.
