Rangers fall to Athletics in Sacramento

A tough outing for the Rangers

The Texas Rangers dropped a 5-2 decision to the Athletics on Sunday at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. The loss left the Rangers with a 61-64 record, while the Athletics improved to 49-75. Attendance for the contest was 7,343. The Rangers struggled to contain the Athletics' offense, particularly in the middle innings where the home team capitalized on extra-base hits.

Scoring sequence

The Athletics took an early lead in the second inning when Burger homered to right center for 396 feet. Shortly after, Butler hit a 394-foot home run to right field, scoring White to make it 2-1. The Rangers tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning.

Burger grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing Langford to score. The Athletics reclaimed the lead in the seventh inning when Gelof hit a 403-foot home run to right center, driving in Bolte. In the eighth inning, White added a 413-foot solo home run to center field, extending the A's lead to 5-2.

Pitching performance

Cody Bradford started for the Rangers, pitching four innings while allowing eight hits and two earned runs. He also issued one walk and struck out four batters. Chase Silseth followed with one hitless inning, issuing one walk.

Tyler Alexander pitched one hitless inning, also issuing one walk. Jakob Junis took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing two hits and two earned runs while striking out one. Peyton Gray pitched one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and one earned run.
