Rays Surge in Seventh
The Tampa Bay Rays rallied from a multi-run deficit to secure a 7-6 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday night at Globe Life Field. The outcome hinged on a decisive seventh-inning surge that erased a four-run hole and ultimately proved too much for the home team to overcome.
Texas opened the scoring in the second inning when Duran sent a ball 419 feet to center field for a home run. Tampa Bay responded in the third with an Aranda homer to right-center, tying the game at 1-1. The Rays took the lead in the fourth when Palacios hit a 371-foot shot to right field.
The momentum shifted dramatically in the fifth inning. After Aranda reached base via a ground-rule double and scored on Díaz’s single, Caminero followed with a double that brought Aranda home. Mesa Jr. then singled to center, and Caminero crossed the plate on a fielding error by center fielder Carter.
A subsequent grounder by Mullins resulted in a rundown where Mesa Jr. scored, extending Tampa Bay’s advantage to 6-1.
Rangers Fight Back
The Rangers mounted a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh. Díaz launched a 384-foot home run to left-center, driving in Burger, Carter, and Freeman to cut the deficit to 6-5. The rally continued into the ninth inning.
Caminero singled to center, allowing Mateo to score, making it 7-5. Later in the frame, Díaz hit a sacrifice fly to left, bringing Burger home for the final run.
