Plano, Texas — Texas has formally signed forward Marcus Spears Jr. after he reclassified into the 2026 class, the school announced July 10. He is set to join the Longhorns for the 2026-27 season.
Before the change, Texas said Spears was rated No. 1 nationally in the 2027 class. ESPN ranks him fourth in the 2026 class.
The Frisco native is listed at 6-foot-10. Texas reported that he averaged 15.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks at Dynamic Prep last season.
The Longhorns’ signing adds a North Texas player to a program with a broad statewide following. Texas released the terms of the scholarship signing Friday.
