Plano, Texas — Texas added a centerpiece for its 2027 recruiting class on July 4 when five-star offensive tackle Ismael Camara of Gilmer committed to the Longhorns. He ranks No. 20 overall and No. 3 at his position in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Camara, a 6-foot-6, 340-pound lineman, announced his choice over finalists Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Originally from France, he played his initial varsity season in 2025 at Gilmer and compiled nearly forty scholarship offers.

The pledge marks the 22nd commitment for the Texas 2027 class and the fifth offensive lineman, reinforcing a haul assembled under line coach Kyle Flood. The class holds the No. 4 spot in the national team rankings.

Camara earned his rating through a rare blend of size, athleticism, and nastiness as a blocker despite minimal varsity experience. He contributed at left tackle, on the defensive front, and on special teams last fall and should take on more responsibilities as a senior.

The Longhorns continue to build momentum on the recruiting trail, with four-star cornerback Brandon Sherrard having committed on July 1 and the 2027 class positioned in the top five nationally.
