ARLINGTON, Texas - Wyatt Langford kept finding ways onto the bases, then delivered the swing that turned a one-run game into a three-run cushion.
The Rangers left fielder finished 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base Saturday as Texas beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 at Globe Life Field, per ESPN's box.
His RBI double in the sixth scored Josh Jung and sent Brandon Nimmo to third when Myles Straw pulled up in left, the Associated Press reported, and that inning became the difference in a night that also put Texas alone atop the American League West.
Sixth-inning breakthrough
Texas led 3-1 when Langford came up with runners on in the sixth against José Soriano. The ball carried into the gap; Straw hesitated, and Langford's 20th double of the season made it 4-1. Danny Jansen was hit by a pitch to force in Nimmo, and Evan Carter's sacrifice fly scored Langford for a 6-1 cushion.
Langford had already scored in the second, when Texas pushed across two runs without a hit - helped by a walk, a hit batter, Giménez's throwing error and a Soriano wild pitch, the AP wrote. Context around the bat
Josh Jung's solo homer in the first - his 11th, 356 feet to right - opened the scoring. Toronto answered with Alejandro Kirk's RBI and later Davis Schneider's pinch-hit homer in the seventh, but the Blue Jays never caught up.
