Highland Homes is a family-owned homebuilder founded in 1985, based at 5601 Democracy Drive, with about 1,000 employees building more than 2,500 homes a year in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and San Antonio areas.
The U.S. News list evaluated about 3,900 companies across 14 industries on six measures, including pay and benefits, work-life balance, stability and career development. Dallas led the metroplex with 24 honorees, followed by Irving with 13; Plano's five ranked third among area cities.
