Plano police responded to a serious traffic accident at the intersection of eastbound East Parker Road and Avenue K on Saturday. The crash occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m., prompting an immediate investigation by the Plano Police Department.
According to preliminary findings from officials, a silver Ford Explorer was traveling at a high rate of speed on East Parker Road west of Avenue K. The vehicle crossed a center median into the westbound lanes and struck a pedestrian standing on the median. The impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown into the side of an eastbound car.
The Explorer continued moving through the westbound lanes, crossed Avenue K, and collided with five vehicles that were stopped at the intersection. In total, seven vehicles, including the SUV, sustained damage in the incident.
Three individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment: the pedestrian, the driver of the Explorer, and another driver involved in the crash. As of Saturday evening, the conditions of these individuals were not yet known. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
Southbound Avenue K at Avenue N was initially closed while police began their investigation. An update issued around 6:30 p.m. indicated that through traffic was permitted on southbound Avenue K at Avenue N. However, eastbound Parker Road at Archerwood Road remained shut off to traffic.
