The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found no evidence of a shooting after responding to a reported incident at County Road 1230. The people at the location were safe, county officials said. Dallas is about 18 miles south of Plano.
Deputies went to the location at about 8:30 a.m. Monday after receiving the report. Officials determined the report was false and said it matched the pattern of a swatting incident.
Swatting involves making a false report to prompt a substantial law enforcement response at an unsuspecting location. WFAA reported the officials’ statement.
