All travel lanes on Main Street in Richardson are now open during peak travel times, according to a news release from the city. The reopening marks the conclusion of a major infrastructure effort that has occupied the roadway for several months.

The reconstruction project, which began in February, focused on the segment of Main Street located between Greenville Avenue and North Walton Street. The city reported that the total cost for the work was $6.5 million. The scope of the project encompassed several types of improvements, including paving updates, water and sewer system modifications, new landscaping, and streetlight upgrades.

City officials stated that crews have finished the striping work on the street. Workers are currently completing the remaining tasks, which include sidewalk repairs, additional landscaping, and other infrastructure enhancements. The release indicated that these final touches are being applied as the project nears its end.

Richardson is situated approximately 5 miles south of Plano. The completion of the Main Street improvements allows for normal traffic flow to resume on the corridor during high-volume periods. Further details regarding the specific timeline for the final landscaping and sidewalk work were not provided in the release.
