Plano West football opened its District 7-6A schedule with a 52-20 victory over Richardson at Eagle-Mustang Stadium. The Wolves recorded their second-highest scoring output since 2014, breaking a 7-7 tie with 21 consecutive points before holding the Eagles to 13 points over the final three quarters.
Despite outgaining Richardson 466-427, Plano West limited the opposing offense and scored on eight of their first nine drives, avoiding a punt until the final five minutes of the fourth quarter.
Senior quarterback Blake Tevis led the offensive effort, completing 22 of 31 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns while adding a rushing score. Junior De’Andre Prince served as the primary target, catching 10 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns. The performance marked a strong start for the Wolves in their district campaign.
Plano also found the win column in its district opener, defeating Richardson Pearce 21-9. The Wildcats trailed 9-0 after the first quarter before scoring 21 straight points to take the lead. Although outgained 380-260, Plano generated five takeaways, including four interceptions.
Senior Christian Bell intercepted a pass in the final two minutes, setting up a 2-yard rushing score by junior Kameryn Brown with 23 seconds remaining. Brown finished the game with 175 yards and two touchdowns.
In other District 7-6A action, Coppell defeated Richardson Berkner 42-14. The Cowboys scored their first 42 points before Berkner added two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Junior Carter Zingelmann completed 13 of 18 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns, adding 66 rushing yards and a score.
