Six food service locations in Plano were temporarily shut down following a series of health inspections conducted between Aug. 16 and Aug. 22. The city’s inspection database, which recorded 113 visits during that period, identified critical violations at these establishments. Plano uses a 100-point scoring system for these evaluations, with a score of 70 marking the threshold for an extremely poor rating.
Businesses typically undergo one to four routine checks annually.
Sonic Drive In #1240 on Jupiter Road received a score of 51 after inspectors identified inadequate sewage disposal and dishwashing facilities. The permit was suspended but later reinstated after a follow-up visit resulted in a score of 97. Tazikis on Preston Road scored 57 and was closed due to insufficient cold storage capacity.
Shaahi Biryani on E. Renner Road earned a score of 59, leading to a closure because the rating fell below the acceptable minimum. The establishment’s permit was restored after a subsequent inspection. Nizam’s Biryaniwala on W. Spring Creek Parkway scored 66 and had its permit suspended due to an untreated roach infestation. Unlike other locations, this establishment remained closed following its follow-up inspection.
Utility issues forced the closure of a Taco Bell on Jupiter Road after a break in the utility main cut off water service. The location reopened once water access was restored. Pie Tap on Preston Road was closed after inspectors discovered rodent droppings near food preparation equipment. The permit for this location was not reinstated after a follow-up check.
